A New Musical by Elle Gurevich

KID OF NEW YORK

One missed stopped. A city of a million stories.

KID OF NEW YORK is a groundbreaking coming-of-age musical that follows a young boy lost in the labyrinth of the subway on his way home from school. As the city unfolds around him, he meets a parade of unforgettable New Yorkers—dazzling, dangerous, and deeply human. Above ground, his parents face their own journey, wrestling with what it means to raise a child in the city that never sleeps. With a soaring, showstopping score, this is a story about getting lost… and breaking out.

WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT

What began nearly three years ago as a bold investment in a young artist has blossomed into something extraordinary. As the inaugural commission of New Music Theatre Project’s Future Voices program (read more about us here!), NMTP entrusted then 13-year-old Elle Gurevich with the creation of a new song cycle—an act of belief in the next generation of musical theatre storytellers.

Since then, the piece has grown through multiple developmental phases, including two staged readings, evolving into a fully realized, evening-length musical now poised for its long-awaited premiere.

We invite you to be part of this remarkable journey. Your support will help bring this original work to the stage at 54 Below for its New York City debut this September—transforming years of artistry, mentorship, and dedication into a vibrant, live theatrical experience.

Your support will help bring this piece to life—supporting the artists, the musicians, and the many hands that will make KID OF NEW YORK a reality. In addition, it helps ensure that even more future voices like Elle’s are given the chance to be heard.
